I have a Digi 001. The 002 should be an improvement over my unit. Should sound a little better. Although, depending on which kinds of music you record and if you have another mic preamp, it may not mean much to you. It will also be more convenient as well, since it is using the Firewire port. If you have the money, I'd say go for it. You will be current, which means that it will have a 3 year state-of-the-art window before its fall-off time draws near. If the money is an issue, the 001 is a great choice. Since people are abandoning them, you should be able to cop one for cheap.

Good luck.

The 002 just sounds a little better than the 001. I got the 001 and I'm very satisfied with the quality of my recordings. Pro Tools does use a lot of memory when you use a lot of the plugins. You should be alright with 512mb. I copped my 001 for about $450. If you're on a budget, you'll be satisfied with just purchasing the 001. Anyways, you can always bring your Pro Tools session on disk and have it mastered at a professional Pro Tools studio. With the 001, you can get professional results at home. I kind of explained the setup on a previous post you posted.
