mpc2000xl for an mpc60 or an mpc3000

Yeah, I did that too. I had a 2000xl, and like 4 or 5 months later I got a 60. Now, I'm selling the 2000xl. IT's cool, but I should've sold it to begin with. The sequencer on the 2kXL is cool, but I use the 60 for sequencing. As far as sampling, I'm using my a3000, which as a sampler i like a hell of alot better then the 2kXL. I like the 60 all aorund alot better than the 2kXL also. Just a really dope unique machine. Yup.

the thing is... everything that the 2kxl has and that everybody talks about i don't even really use anyway ya kno. like timestretch or reverse and all those other options. i mean they are cool and everything but i never use them. the only advantage is reading wav. files. but i hear u can get a program for like 30 bucks for taht shit. all i use in the 2kxl is the sequencer and the filter and pitch. and i here the 60 has a better sequencer so i am def. gonna buy the machine and check it out. but that is just my oppinion. im sure that you guys who use the 2kxl to the fullest (meaning using all the options) feel that it is a perfect machine and there is no point in getting a machine with less options. so i guess it is how u use your mpc also, when debating on whether to go with the 2k or the 60 or 3000. peace

the 60 has reverse, but no filters. try the 3000.

The truth is that ALL MPC are really good machines. Sure the 60 has a nice dirty sound to it, but it can be attained on the XL. Sound compression on the 60 is an upgraded feature, but all you have to do is speed up a sample on the keyboard/module, sample it, and slow it back down on the MPC.. ANY mpc. As far as the screen goes, we're all going to like what were used to. I use an XL and find the screen simple.. when I used the 60, I was lost, but I'm sure if I used the 60 like I do my XL I'd feel the complete opposite. People spend lots of money for the 3000 because of it's sound, but how many people buy s-3000 samplers to add to their MPC60/2000?? It has the same sound. I mean, folks buy s-950's to add to their MPC2000/3000 because of the gritty sound, so exactly how great and warm is the 3000? I've used them all, and I like them all. Pound for pound, the 2000/XL is the best bang for the buck, but I love the MPC-60(with the linn upgrade). The 3000 is nice too, but too expensive, BUT anyone that knows how to make beats won't care what MPC their using, just as long as it's an MPC. If you can't do it on a 2000, you won't do it on a 3000/2000/1000/4000/XX00.

nice post roxstar.......I love my 2kxl, but out of all the machines, i'd love to rock a 60 alongside my mpc or with a good computer program or whatever......I mean, it just looks so compact and right to the point like i know if I played with it and and I had the scsi action in it with a good zip drive, I could get some work done with it too.....the 3k just seems like ehh...i dunno I never felt like it had any character-more of an urban legend than a real stand out machine as opposed to the 2kxl and 60 which had tangible characteristics that made them stand out....

so al of the mpc's can get the job done?

just depends on how much work you wanna do to get started, how much money you wanna invest, whether or not you are willing to deal with the hassle of overused second hand equipment, and whether or not you have the means or knowhow to fix them.....just read the board on how many folks have problems with used 3ks and 60's as opposed to a new or used 2kxl.....just do the homework mane....you can get down on all the machines..

Whoa, I see alot more posts with errors on 2k's than 60's and 3's.

The backlight going out is pretty common, but they all use El Foils, and they all have a limited lifespan. Still, I personally hear of more problems with the 2k.

I also see many more posts with "how do I do ___" on the 2000 forum than the 60 / 3000 forum.

i can buy an fully upgraded mpc60 with marion scsi, latest os, 1,5 mb wich is the ex of speedy j.

but I think I go for the mpc3000....

Sp1200, no way. Don't get me wrong it's a good ANCIENT machine but go with a MPC, any one of them.

I can get a good deal on a mpc3000, and i think I get an mpc3000 with an s900/s950, for it's 12bit sound, so I get the best of both worlds.

your MUSIC (if you get offline enough to make any) doesnt rely on the right bit of gear... this whole thread makes me want to fly to holland and do the world a favour by taking all this gear off of you and locking you in a fridge.

its not like youre comparing a roland groovebox to tricked out studio... and especially if you are 13... just get busy making music until your engineering skills improve.
