WHY THE MPC??

I am a producer using the Roland Fantom x6, I was wondering if anyone using similar setups (keyboard workstations) in conjunction with a MPC (any model) Could please tell me What advantages the mpc gives you. sample wise, sequence wise, or in any other way as opposed to software based seq/samplers such as fruity loops reason of battery. THANKS

The MPC will give you a feel that most of us love and it gives superior sequencing that most other workstations lack. Like with the MPC you just hit record and play and your done. With the fantom you will loose all the effects and sampling options that you have on the MPC, but you can also sample on the fantom and just use the MPC's pads to play the samples on the fantom. Its really kind of hard to explain, but I just perfer having the MPC infront of me when I'm working, plus its fun.

True. It has a good feel to it and I prefer it over any piece of software (i.e. Fruity Loops).

This is the key bit. there is nothing that special about any of the individual components but when you put them into a single box, it suddenly becomes very inspiration and quick..

Can you not get a play on one in a shop or something?

'Quick' is the MPC's middle name. You just can work with it very fast. If you have something in your head, you just hit record and play ahead. You don't have to wade trough menu's to do this.

But if you have a model with a floppy drive and use long samples, it can be slow... Very slow... (eg. MPC2000XL) But there are splendid workarounds; you can install a card drive on your own (very easy), which will not only speed loading & saving up (feels like 10 times faster compared to floppy), but will also make the MPC a silent machine.

Most folks who use an MPC for any length of time tend to never go back...It's intuitive and lets you concentrate on your music instead of your sequencer...As a sampler, its pretty darn good too but some sample editing software and AKAI.sys makes it as good as any on the market.

u cant go wrong with an mpc, i love the pads on this thing
