what software should i use with my mpc2kxl

im mainly looking for soemthing easy to use..most software programs ive tried to use i cant...i have no idea what im doing..that was frity loops 4 and something else..i downloaded those so i had no instructions...anyway im thinkin maybe soundforge, cubase sl, pro tools or reason only because i hear about these so much..i want to use software just for recoriding and maybe editing, not so much for virtual instruments and things..also do i need a hardware mixer and or midi interface to use the mpc and my keyboard wit my compurter

lots of people like Cool edit aka Adobe Audition, Soundforge is good, Cubase and Protools are recording programs i believe ( i wouldnt know dont use that stuff)... Reason is not a wav editor or a recording program its actually production shit, so dunno how or why you would use reason...

Maybe if you download a few programs try them out see what you like its all preference.... right now im using recycle and a garbage 30 dollar mac wav editor.

i just use cool edit with the native wave gold buncle to record it thru my mixer works great and it's madd easy to use

It all depends on what you want to use the software for. Do you want a full-fledged recording studio on the pc or mac? If so, then go with Cubase, Logic, or Sonar XL. There is a learning curve with these programs. I got Sonar XL 2.2 and I mainly use it to record, add effects, and compress my tracks that I make with the MPC2000XL and Korg Triton LE. Do you just want to 'chop up' your samples? I use Recycle which is easier and less time consuming than the zone function on the MPC. Plus your 'chops' are cleaner. I also use T-Racks 24 to master my finished tracks that I've recorded on Sonar. There are tons of recording software out there and I'm sure one the more experienced MPC users on this site can tell you which is better and why. I was in your position last year and I just went with I needed and felt comfortable using. You can download demo versions of some software and make your own decision. It's not about what EVERYBODY ELSE is using, it's about what YOU'RE trying to do to take your music to the NEXT LEVEL...peace

For recordin I think yo should first check out cool edit, its really easy to use for beginners.

Got a couple of questions for you but first let me tell you what I'm working with so you can get a better understand of my questions.

Korg D-1600 16 track digital recording mixer
Korg Karma workstation keyboard
MPC 2000xl (no options just expanded memory and external zip drive)

Now, my question(s) are this:
Since all of my gear is hardware, how can I incorporate a computer into my setup? What role(s) would/could a computer play with a setup I have? I understand that I could use a computer in conjuction with my MPC but could I also use it with my keyboard and mixer? I don't think I could use my mixer with a computer though since it's self contained unit. Any help and/or suggestions you may have will be very helpful.
