mpc 2kxl compared to mpc 4k (yes.another one of those posts)

I'm considering very, very seriously buying an mpc 4000 LE for $1,599
brand new... Is this a good price for it?

I'm also asking your advice to the now famous question in this board.

2000xl or 4000?

I make hiphop and r&b beats and i've been using the mpc 2000 and the xl

since 97 (when 2000 came out) i use samples and the yamaha motif and do drums on the mpc...

I know that there's some one out there that can give me an honest opinion and that can relate to how i make beats... and give me the ok or not...

and like i said is the price good? i would be paying like 500 more for the basic 4000 versus the basic 2000xl

i already know it soesnt come with cr-r or harddrive but i can install later.

you guys must be tired of this type of thread, i already read pretty much all the similar posts, but i need a final opinion.

Well,I was an mpc2kxl user 2 months ago,but now I have my hands on the 4k.Simply,a beast! I expand it with an internal HD 80GB,the PlexWriter and full of memory and I'm learning the machine cause it has lots of utilities.Go for that! Peace

it depends on how deep your goin to get into your mpc. i keep my shit simple and only use the most important parts of the mpc. like the sequencer, trim, and adjusting the parameters. and just being extra creative with the rest. so i feel no need to have the mpc4k because i would spending all that money on something that i only use a quarter of the options. don't get me wrong, there is def. ill things about the 4k but IMO, its not really worth it. i rather add to my setup a 60 or some shit. so its up to how u are goin to be freakin ur mpc.

If I could afford the 4k, I would buy it...But I cant so I am very happy with my trusty 2kxl. I have grown accustomed to it and it really is a great machine. I was thinking about getting a 1000 but more and more it is starting to sound like a severe downgrade from the 2kxl.

I think I will just wait till my 2kxl breaks before I get any MPC....and based on the talks of people still using the 60, hopefully that wont happen for a L-O-N-G time......................................................

I would love the USB connection to PC though instead of these ZIP/CD-ROM drives for data loading and/or saving. Seems much more reliable, specially since the SCSI connections are becoming extinct.

You could spend the money if you choose to. If I were you though I wouldn't. Your setup is already nice. Samples, a synth and an MPC. Don't need more. You know it...keep using it.

yo it's been a few days and i did a lil research, and your replies were also helpful, i won't buy the 4000 and will stick to 2000 xl, nothing against the 4000 but for right now, i could use the xtra 500 and put into something else (protools digidesign 001?)

both machines are really good though....
