Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
ByAllCity067 Sun Nov 23, 2003 5:56 am
So I just copped an ASR-10 keyboard. I already have a MPC2000XL & a Proteus but I was getting bored so I decided to throw in the ASR.

I want to use the ASR to chop samples and the MPC for drums. And of course I want the ASR to control the Proteus. My MIDI knowledge is wack tho. Any suggestions on how to connect all three so I can get some work done?

set the Proteus on fire then take the midi out of the mpc and stick it up your ass (only playin)

Use your MPC2000 has the main master so simply take outs from the mpc directly into the ASR and direct into the Proteus, this way will let you control each machine from the 2000xl. When you are programming on the Mpc make sure on the seq page you select the right midi out otherwise it will not talk to the other machines.

anymore probs holla back!!!!

ps (If this don't work there is still the first option!!)

Using the ASR 10 to control the Proteus hook up a Midi out of the ASR into the in on the MPC (YOU CAN CONTROL THE MPC DRUMS FROM THE ASR ASWELL THIS WAY )

FORGOT THIS BIT!!!!

Awww sh!t. Good lookin. Everything works now. I'm scared to even think what I have to do to sync up my pro tools but thats another day.

How come when I'm playing the ASR and recording to MPC I get like a wierd phaseing effect? During playback its not there only on record.

Because when you play the sound it is playing twice because of a midi loop. The sound is playing on the ASR when you press the keys and the mpc is sending a midi signal to play on the ASR.
Hooking that up to Pro tools is not that hard. Just depends on if you want to control PT with Mpc or Mpc with PT. I have a pretty similar set-up. I use PT to control MPC. It doesn't matter casue all you need them to do is start at the same time to record.(If you are recording stictly audio). I would use the 1 midi in you got left on the mpc and connect that to the midi out of your computers midi port. I think you need to use Mtc to control the MPC from PT cause ti doesn't send midi clock. I never really synch them up anymore , I just record the audio in , not the midi , and slide and edit if it need to. If you have any more questions hit the forum back. Good Luck.
