BeatMaking?

When you finish making a beat do you go to the next "Sequence"?

Do you have like 30 beats saved under one ALL file?

If so, Does that effect you when you're Midi up with a keyboard or anything else?

this is how i do it... i have only one beat on the floppy at a time.... and its basically the beat iam working on.... with that one beat.... there's only these items...

one .all file........ contains info on all the sequences and song mode info for that beat...

one .aps ..... contains all the params for each sound on each program made...


and a bunch of .wav files.... basically the samples used to make the beat...

I don't get what you mean either, a beat may be made up of 30 sequences or do you mean a beat as a whole song? I save All Prg. and All Seq.
If you need to do more than 1 song with the same sounds just create a new song2 and you can save it with song1 in the same All Seq. file.

This is what I was doing before, but I'm starting to see it's no good.

I would make a 4Bar loop, and keep on making beats on the next squence. I would keep going and going.

Under one .ALL I would have like 30 -60 4BAR beats, using the sounds from the .APS I loaded. They all didn't sound alike either.

Hey this was a while ago too.

Now I see that way isn't good at all, since now I'm finally got my KeyBoard MiDi with the XL.

I was wondering how eveybody else is doing it.

It seems that I should make one 4Bar beat in a .ALL file instead of 30 -50 and then put that in Song Mode also when its complete.

When I'm midi with the board I will use different synth sounds. EXAMPLE.When its time to save my files I can name the .ALL & .APS files "Beez" and save the files from the Board as "Beez" also.

Is there a easy way to do this?

OK I dont understand exactly what you mean either, but i give it a try.

when I work on a song (beat, tune what ever you want to call it) I will make as many sequences as I need to make the whole song. All of those seqences may use a couple of programs worth of samples. So, I save the whole thing as a .APS and .ALL that way all of the programs I used will load up for that song I am making and all of the seqences and songs will load up too.

Now, I usuall will also save each of the programs as a .PGM also, that way if I want to use it in some other song I can, but I dont have to load the whole .APS. The same goes for a individual seqences, if it happens to be a drum seqence or something that I may use for another song. I do that rarely.

So basically you have one (1) beat, song, etc. in a .ALL file when you save.

That's what I want to know. I wasn't doing that in the beginng. I use to make a beat in each sequence. Total 50-60 4 bar beats in one (1) .ALL file.

I guess I will just do that then, since it will be easier if I use my board and MPC together.
