Can the 2000xl read 2000 APS and ALL files and vice versa

can someone please let me know if the mpc 2000xl can read mpc 2000 ALL and APS files and vice versa.

me and my cousin make music together and we both currently have mpc 2000s. we constantly exchange disks and work on each others songs.

will we still be able to do that if i got an mpc 2000xl and he kept his mpc 2000?

The XL will read the 2000 without a hitch however, you can't go backwards. The 2000 won't read the XL's pgms and all pgms. I can't remember if it will read the sequences. Oh yeah you can swap wav files back and fourth but not snd files.

The 2000 reads PGMs and MID files made by an XL fine. Just make sure your PGMs are saved with SND files and not WAV.

There seems to be an issue with 2KXL ALL and APS files on a standard 2000.

And you can definitley swap SND files back and forth.

From my experience the 2000 couldn't read the snd files but it had no problem reading the wav files. This I know for a fact because my partner has a 2000. I can't recall what O.S. he uses but you got me questioning this dilema.

You know what it's been awhile I'll try it tonight. I've always used wav files maybe that's why. Aight.

There may be issues with older MPC2000 operating systems - but all the sample packs on this site are created in SND format on an XL, and they all load up fine for everyone with a standard 2000.
