can you record a sample in the 2000/2000XL while you are in playback mode ?

I know I should read the manual! but I dont have the 2000 and I cant remember.

No you can't. Only on the mpc1000, 4000, and the 2500 (if they deliver on promised features.

This has always been a major gripe for me with the mpc. I mean come on, sample while playing a sequence? That is a very nice feature to have on a sampling sequencer.

To play a midi sound module or keyboard while it's playing you mean? Certainly.

If you mean sampling while playing midi data then the answer is also NO. The MPC 2k(xl) can not sample while playing sequences (samples or midi).

Well of course you can record midi while playing a sequence. If that wasn't possible Akai wouldn't sell a single MPC.
