where do these guys get there drum samples?
i just got the blackstar album with mos def and talib
( i know, i know, its old news) but this s#^t is unbelievable. not to mention mos def is the baddest rapper around.

anyway, where do these guys get these amazing kik ans snare sounds?

Hi-Tek is a genious - check his hi-teknology lp.

Man, Blackstar needs to do another record. I think the two of them are stronger together than solo.
Especially Mos Def's last solo was half garbage IMHO.
Mos Def trying to play rock, is like that kid from 90210 trying to rap.......cheesy and unauthentic.

My favorite track from them is still the pre-LP "Fortified Live." Classic.

His productions are always on. Imo, the worst move kweli ever made was leaving hitek. That reflection eternal album was solid front to back...probably in my top three of all time - better than the blackstar album.

don't get me wrong blackstar is classic.

J Rawls, Shawn J Period, Geology & The Beatminerz all did tracks, but Hi-Tek did the majority of it. The drums do bang hard throughout the album.

Get you a MP60, a SP1200, a DBX 160a, and some rock records for drums.

I heard shawn j is making christian music now or some shit.
