mpc 3000 freeze

Hello,
My MPC 3000 automatically shuts off after aout 10-15 minutes of use.
Or sometimes it reboots.
Is this an overheating problem, is it electrical?
Anybody know?

I had the same problem with my 3000. It's the electric engine in the 3000 either something spilled in it or you need a new cord. But to fix that will run you about 4 to 5 hundres dollars. Its good to use the original electric cord that came with the 3000 all those other cords could **** up the machine. One!

Huh? The MPC3000 uses a standard IEC power cable. There is no `other` cord.

As i said if you was to use a different power cord than the ORIGINAL it could cause a electrical burst in the machine, man trust me i had the same problem i am trying to help you out.

I left it on all night last night and woke up and all the lights were on and nothing on the screen, I turned it off and then turned it back on and it was the same thing.

Now do I just need to to change the cord in the back or is it going to cost 3-4 hundred dollars. Someone please let me know how to go about fixig this.

I do not think this has anything to do with a powerchord. I use my 3000 on stage and i sometimes forget my powerchord at home but it never froze up on me. I think there is something wrong with the internal powersupply of your machine. On the other side I use my MPC with a European 220V powerchord and i don't know that much about US types you know so don't diss me plz...

That is simple hogwash. I would not repeat it in public less you get laughed off. I want whoever told you that to send me an email. Or better yet, send me their name and number. This is something all my tech friends at the repair shops will get a kick out of.

I've already called a few people and they are still laughing.

Everybody is laughing but your the one with the messed up mpc. So the same people who are laughing why they dont fix it for you.

Now let me slow it down for you so you can understand.

You Have A Short in your machine.

The Problem is the power supply in the machine.


The cost to replace it may run you about 4-500 bucks.


Using another power cord OTHER than the original one


may be a problem also.



So who is the one laughing now. My MPC 3000 is fine. As i said i am trying to help you out.

There are no `original` MPC power cables. Akai buys them in lots from the same people that Dell or HP buys theirs and it may vary from month to month depending on what supplier has the lowest price on cables. They are called IEC for a reason.

You can confirm this with a simple call to Akai Pro Japan.

It could be the power supply or the cable. By the way, the power cable that comes with the MPC is the same as every other household PC power cable.

The problem might be inside the cable itself, it might have been twisted alot wires are shifting when it is moved around. That's unlikely though cause they are built pretty damm good and sturdy.

Maybe the OS itself could be buggy or corrupt. Those would be the first 3 things I would check.

Bullcrap, i use a regular power cord and had never any problems with the mpc, just pefect!!! Must be something with the PSU, believe me.
