little noise when recording from digital out?

got the XL with the 8out, plug it in my spdif on my computer, got proper cables and everything.

but there is just a little noise when i record a empty signal... shold it be this way? or am I just picky?

mmm strange, I tried recoring into cubase,.... and there was no noise.

but the noise remanis in wavelab.. strange... well...

That is cuased by the digital clock being out of sync, you have to set the computer/souncard to recieve sync/clock from the mpc or spdif input.




We are talking digital sync not midi, bu just like midi sync somthing has to be the slave, wich is alwas the recorder(in most cases).

wave labs kinda a picky software i think ,when i loop in WL i always get a pop but in CEP it's perfect try your cables also not sayin your are but if there cheap cables that can cause noise also,

Could it be that you're using ASIO drivers in Cubase, and other drivers (MME or WDM?) for Wavelab?
Like Charlieocali said: it could be that Wavelab is not syncing to the spdif, and Cubase is because you're using different drivers for both.
Also make sure to disable Windows system sounds by choosing "No sounds" in "Sounds and Audio devices" in the Control Panel.

i use both Wavelab and Cubase, and my digi-signal is clean in both...

how about your loops do they pop, i have that problem with poppin will this work for that as well..

i don't have this problem with CEP. cool edit sounds clean and the loops sound seamless.

it's always at the end but it doesnt do it in CEP only in wave lab but i cantransfer the file i made on WL to CEP and no pop it's strange so i use CEP to loop samples, it 's like CEP has a tighter zone range then WL.

I was thinking that too, the zone range thing. I don't loop that much, but i ussually use the crossfade loop function i Wavelab. it has some kind of preview thing that's really easy to me.
CEP is good too, if it ain't broken don't fix it .

i'm going to have to try that function yeah i use CEP most of the times but sometimes i get a file that wont open up right in CEP so i have to open it in WL i dont loop on these but when your etying to fix them and you loop it on the program you kno it jsut a bug , but i will try that out thanks ieism.
