ok, so i have the 2000xl and a yamaha djx keyboard. im tryin to sync them together, but can seem to figure it out. i wanna dump from the djx 2 the xl. i have the manual, but keep getting stuck.

the keyboard is asking me to "bulksnd" which i assume is what i want to do. the mpc is in midi/sync mode and i am looking at the "sync in" screen. so heres the question. which mode do i have to be in? midi clock or midi time code? shift early is set at 0 and the recieve mmc is on. now what?

i hope i explained it well enough.

thanx in advance

R u trying to sequence the yamaha sounds in the MPC? If so just go Yamaha OUT to MPC IN. Set the tracks up for midi and make sure the midi channels correspond and u good to go. Thats the basics but this has been answered already so u can search for more info if u need it.

Well that made me giggle for a bit...But i'm getting the feeling you're a bit confused by all the things you can do with midi.
You need to focus on the simple stuff first before going into midi-dumps and syncing. With just a keyboard and the MPC you don't need to mess with that anyway for now.
First learn to setup you mpc to play the keyboards sounds, and the mpc with the keyboard. There should be a lot off info in the newbie forum about this, and in the manual.

Syncing i ussually done to allow two sequencers to run in time together. Your mpc has a sequencer, but your keyboard doesn't so you needn't bother with this for now.

i just wanna be able to use the sounds on the djx during a sequence on the mpc
how do i export the sounds installed on the djx to the mpc. neither manuals, as far as i can tell, dont explain anything other than making the midi connections. i made all the connections, but the mpc isnt responding. im in dire need of a keyboard. plus i wanna master the mpc, and without understanding midi i cant do that.

anyone, any ideas?

Well, like i said....There's no need to export any sounds at all. All you have to do is connect the two with a simple "midi handshake", and you can play the sounds from your keyboard straight away. You record the tracks as midi in your mpc, but the sounds stay in the keyboard, that's the idea.
Set your tracks on the mpc to MIDI-1A (default is DRUM-1) for example and it will play the patch you have on channel-1 on your keyboard.
