connecting mpc to turntable

I have an MPC 2000 and an old record player i bought. Im not even sure if the MPC is compatible with just an old record player. I also just recently bought a mixer to connect the two of them. I was just wondering which kind of cables do i need to connect them together. It looks like I would put a quarter inch phono into the RECORD IN but thats all i know?
