Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey folks! Quick question
I haven't used my MPC in a few months but, after gathering some great sound from this site I decided to put it back to work. :D

I've noticed however that my Note Variation Slider is not effecting my sounds. I mean, when I hit the after key the sound changes but the slider doesn't change the sound when I move it and the fader icon on the screen doesn't move.

my unit hasn't experienced any "trauma" or anything such s being drop etc so what might you all think could be wrong?

Sounds like your MPC needs immediate surgery :?

Dogs,
I am sorry to inform you that the NV slider on the 2000 and 2000xl WILL NOT effect sounds in real time. Oh yeah, they call it real time in the product description, but it's a lie. You are correct: it WILL affect change upon re-triggering, but not during the playback of a sound. The sampling engine is just that basic. I hope you realise the advantages of the MPCs despite this major drwback, but your machine ain't broken, at any rate.

hey gents, this is the response I got from an "authorized repair specialist"

"It sounds like the slider is defective and needs to be replaced. You can send it for repair to the address below. The estimate for the repair is approximately $45 labor plus the part (which is under $20). When it is completed, we will call you with the total, including shipping, so you can send payment."

any thoughts>?
