Hello,

Good point Sampie. I miss that on the 1000, there is a way to do it but that works only TRACK based not SOUND based. They should include that feature in the QUANTIZE menu on the 1000 with a new OS.
Shifting snares and hihats is a great way to get a funky beat.

..."only TRACK based not SOUND based." It's MIDI data you change and you don't have to do it for a whole track.

sorry, you're right g4s, i just checked it. It does also work on notes, not just whole tracks.
Still, i hate the way it's done now. You have to enter SEQ EDIT and change all the numbers and shit.
I used to have a MPC2000 and that was much easier, just going into quantize and change the amount of shift (earlier or later).

So you guys are saying that the MPC 1000 doesn't have the ability to shift names a few clicks back or ahead?? This should be in the quantize menu like all the other MPCs. This has to be possible on the MPC 1000..no? If not, that would make it the only MPC without this feature

There's no such option in the quantize menu. But there's a way to get the same result in SEQ EDIT (a bit more complicated).
Jahrome, since you are one of the few people having a 2500 why don't you answers Sampie initial question. Or did you already check and is it in the quantize menu like on the 2000?

Yeah Jahrome that would be cool if you are able to let us know if it appears like on the 2000. thanks again

My bad..I thought I already answered the question. Yes, you can shift notes with the 2500.

Yeah, used to own a 2KXL and preferredthat shift note method over the one in the current OS of the 1K. Hopefully, this might change in the next (rumoured OS!)

I just re-read this thread and realized that I didn't accurately answer the question forum members asked. I am sorry about that

The MPC 2500 does have the shift-note function but not like what long time MPC users are use to. This function has been removed from the time correct (quantize) menu and has now been placed in the seq edit menu.

It was stated in a post above that it is track based and not sound base, which is incorrect. You can select ALL, 1, 2, 3, or 4 notes to shift forward or backwards up to 96 steps.

Again, sorry for not making my answer clear. Please accept my apology.

Yeah, seems the same as on the 1000. I hate that way of shifting, unnecessary complicated in my opinion. Especially fore shifting sounds before the original position.
The old way (in quantize window) was much more logic

that sucks...if trhis is true ime gonna keep my 2000XL.

what was Akai thinking. Shift Timing should be quick and simple.

I already state that this is true. You will have to stick with the XL if this is a make or break feature. It is there..not just where it use to be. You can choose up to 4 instruments/notes to move at one time.
