I signed up, but didnt download yet, they offer the cd image, I just didn't have the time to download half a gig.. Plus they have all the mods for rebirth as well. All you have to do is register for an account, which was free... Plus you don't need reason to use rebirth, it is its own program, that can be rewired to reason, if you chose so I think..

i've had it for a while, how do you load in patches/sounds? or does it only work with the provided sounds like the oldschool machines? I havent messed with it much

They are emulators of the old machines, can't remember which since its been awhile, but tr909, 808, 303...might be wrong?... The new sounds/patches come with the different mods available... Each mod has different sounds, and changes the look of the interface accordingly... If you have enough savy, there are ways to create your own mods as well, by loading in your own sounds, and such, never did it though, know nothing about it, but thats how mods were created outside of propellerhead.

Rebirth was the first computer program I used back in the late 90s, and I haven't touched it in years... But its fun, you can get some dope sounds from it, rewire it, or export the wave... The fun comes from making a beat, then switching the mod (thus changing all the sounds, and the resultant song)... But hey its free now, can not beat that...

yeah I downloaded the free version when they put up the bit torrent link, makes it much quicker.

I loved rebirth, my first program too, it sucked me into real analog tho and less into software.

Word! same here. I started using Rebirth when 1.5 was released. I think I still have the 1.5 mods around somewhere. When 2.0 was released, I was lucky enough to get the upgrade CD for free. I had every mod out there (even the unofficial mods at the time, but I lost the unofficial mods a while back). Those mods are great for sampling by exporting the sounds to wave file from Rebirth. I had alot of fun with Rebirth and Cubase back in the day but it made me want analog gear even more as well. Unfortunately, I was buying alot of virtual analog gear at the time and should've save up for the real deal instead of wasting money on sh!t that had no resale value. But anyway, its all been a learning experience.

IMPORTANT INFO: Rebirth 2.0 (and 2.0.1 which is the version of the free download) uses the original rewire.dll extension and not rewire2.dll. So if you have any rewire2 host (Reason, Cubase, etc.) the installation of Rebirth will overwrite the rewire2.dll and you'll have to reinstall your rewire2 host program again if you cant manually replace the rewire2.dll extension. As far as the upgrade to 2.0.1, there were a few bug fixes and youll also notice in the menu that you have an option called "Vintage Rebirth Sound". When you choose that option, it fixes the bug that made the 303 sound unlike the original version. Still, its fun to try them both.

Rebirth is the SH!T!!!! When I don't feel like hooking up my sh!t, I'll mess with it on the PC. I love the TB303 emulation. ILL!!!!!

I used the bittorrent link on the rebirthmuseum site, and started to download, but the rebirth zip file is something like 215 mb, and the bit torrent program says i have already downloaded 222 mb but it says only 82% done and is still downloading, this doesn't make sense to me, is this normal i have never done a bit torrent download before.

what is it like a software drum machine? i dont kno naything about these programs. sounds good if its free
