what does everyone use to make melodies?

I've had my MPC 2000xl for about 2 months now and im starting to get the hang of drum patterns and getting the hats and snare and bass tight. I'm sure everyone know its hard to make the melodies on the MPC cause it can't take a sample and spread it out over a whole range of notes like a keyboard or am i in the dark?? I was wondering what everyone else used with thier mpc to make thier melodies and is it possiable to midi up to Fruity an throw a sample on that and have my pads trigger the piano roll and export that as a wave file and the burn to cd and sample into my mpc and assign to a pad?? thanks for any help cause my beats is hurtin, cool drums and then noise haha peace

Yep. I am sure someone else will explain. There are a few ways to do it.

Actually I use both of these techniques together, autochromatic and
re-pitch and re-play them how I want.

16 levels fa sho'....and i found those bass lines,i finally figured out u have to tweek em out a little bit but i got them banging!!!

Auto Chrom is the Sh!t

I use a EMU E5000 for samples like that, or I use a soft sampler like Reaktor or Sample Tank in Pro Tools.

Its a good Idea to have a rack sampler of some sorts like the one I have or even an old Akai one like the famous S 950 or S 1000.

A cheap synth is good to have too. Look in the used market for something to meet your needs.

I will use 16 levels though sometimes if it fits the need. There are plenty of people who have made entire albums on just a MPC.

I suggest if you have the money to spend, look for a used EMU sampler from the E4 range like an E5000 or E6400 you can find one used for 500 sometimes. just gotta look hard.

Now figre out the Autochromatic assign and that "NEW TOY" will turn into a whole different monster and you will enjoy that as well.
