that premo was in his prime in the early 90's and nowadays we all know that when he's short on cash he just bashes out some chops for some random artist and gets paid. Whereas kane is hungry, younger etc with more to achieve/prove.
I can't see kane makin' a beat that sticks with me like memory lane (nas) has, but on the flip side I think premo can't be bothered to push himself any more ...
...but truth be known i'm not really too up on premo any way, gimme classic beatminers or godfather don any day.

Just because a lot of rappers are requesting a producer's tracks doesn't necessarily mean dude is hot. You have to look at it from a corporate view. An artist can make a song with a wack track I did which will get constant spins 20 -30 times a day to subliminally cause a person to know the words to a whole song just one week off the radio. And this is true because songs you initially hated when they first came out you find yourself knowing the words and maybe might even spit a line from that song because it's drilled into you daily. Once labels then see that your sh*t is being played constantly they're gonna want you to do sh*t for their artists too, regardless of how wack it is. You may be in hot demand but that doesn't mean your sh*t is hot. How many times have you read interviews where artists say "Well, that wasn't really me but that's what the label was pushing and he was the hot producer at the moment" Ie; Rakims' last two albums. So you can be high in demand if you're making beats for commercial and mass appeal but to hip hop purists that sh*t may be wack.

And as far as Primo, that cat probably got more money than most of these artist out there. He stays busy. Just because his beats aren't played 24/7 on BET or MTV doesn't mean he isn't in demand. He get more work than Kanye. We just don't see it on these "hip-hop" programs. It's unlikely that he will have to "bash out some chops for some random artist". He's stays booked. Why? Because real recognize real. And the reason why his beats aren't $100,000? He loves his craft. He loves beat making. He loves music. It is a blessing to be compensated monetarily for doing something you love with your God Given talent. True lovers don't feel a need to have to charge ridiculous prices because if they weren't get paid they would be doing it for free on the side, like most of us. That's love. Those who feel they have to charge 75% house downpayments are crazy. Maybe because they know they're only gonna be hot for a minute so they gonna get it while they can. Does that sound like love? Nah, sounds like they in it 4 da $$$.

In my opinion, Primo is one of the greatest, alongside, Pete Rock & Marley Marl. However, you can't knock the younger cats for feeling different because all the media outlets are promoting is bullsh*t rappers with bullsh*t tracks and dictating to the youth that "THIS IS HOT". It's f*cked up but right now that's how it is. Younger cats should do some research and check out some foundation hip-hop and maybe they will understand why cats from the Golden Era like myself feel the way we do.

And it doesn't matter where you're at/from. It's where your heart is. A real hip-hopper wouldn't diss somebody and claim they don't know what they are talking about because of their location. If any one has a right to, I should because I was there when hip was growing- right in the Boogie Down with 2nice and Bambaata when I was a kid. You should never downtalk someone because of their location. I know cats in Canada that will shread some of my fellow Bronx peepoles. Come on, this is hip hop not ignorance.

Comparing Reasonable Doubt to The Black Album? Comparing Kayne West and Premo...heh, there is no comparison!!! Obviously, Reasonable is a classic, while Black is an OK outro joint. Times changes and so do styles and tastes. What was hot in '96 (when Reasonable Doubt dropped) isn't hot now. It's sad, but true. Jay basically said it himself on Black that his style would be similar to Talib Kweli or Common Sense, but he did 5 mil (copies)...ain't rhymed like common, since...gotta go what makes cents. Can you blame him? I love music and I love hip-hop. I miss the rap era of PE and BDP, but the bottom line is that, today , it wouldn't sell. So comparing Premo (my 2nd fav producer behind Dr. Dre) to Kayne West is silly. KW is my homeboy and all (gotta rep Shytown baby ) and his beats ARE on point, but Primo beats are classic and are a work of art. So, bottom line is, different strokes for different folks. Both producers have spawned 'lil versions of themselves throughout the rap game, so I guess you can say they've been both influential to certain degree. Chew on that and stop hating, we're all dope producers

primo was younger knockin out classics like "take it personal","dwyck","manifest","execution of a chump","check the technique"....which is basically the same thing kanye does without the vocal samples.....those are just beats that have been recycled by a different composer .....i.e. something that has already been done by cats like primo and rza(sometimes i feel like a motherless child,i never will,ohh)....no doubt kanye bangs but you are putting dude in front of the forefathers of this drum machine/sampling ish.......and believe it or not it was way harder to sample then it is today(no waveforms)...........but i guess you have learned your lesson......BTW who is "DD BLock"...is it some chicks with big knockers that are LOX groupies??? j/k
