Whats wrong with my 3000

Hi.Have a 3000 with quite an old operating system. Have been trying to load some pre made programs from floppy but it just won't load them.

Weird thing is if i load my own programs from disk there's no problem at all. So the floppy drive is def working fine.


How come when i try load the pre made set that the sounds all show in the display but when i try loading, it says the files can't be found on the disk?Is this an operating sys problem?

Oh yeah forgot to say the pre made sounds came on 1.44meg floppies so maybe wy 3k operating sys doesnt like this.

the 1.44 disk shouldn't be a problem. What are the pre made disks? the disks could be corrputed. if you can see the individual sounds, you could try loading them one by one and then making a program yourself. i've had that happen to a floppy where the PGM was corrupt but i could load all the sounds individually and make the PGM again and save it to that disk and a new disk.

Have tried that as well. But at another studio they loaded the same disks fine into their 3000? Weird!

Like ... how old ? 3.00 ? 3.03 ? 3.08 ?

Your *.PGM and *.SND files have been created on your MPC3000.

The fact thy load back into your MPC3000 is a sign that things are working fine.

Not necessarily an operating system problem. ( although there were a few file system handling issues that could happen in 3.00 and 3.03 operating systems ).

What looks like has happened is that some of the disks you are working with have been damaged. ( or screwed with ).

Try loading the *.SND files into memory one at a time.
Then load the *.PGM file. ( turn off the option of replacing same sounds in memory )
Now re-save the *.PGM and *.SND files back to a fresh disk.

The fact that you can't load the disks is more a sign that the external *.SND file names don't match what is being referenced in the *.PGM

So ... where are you at with this now ?

If single SND files didn't load then what error message was displayed by your MPC3000 ?
