Mpc boots up very slow

how can the zip drive be bad and work at the same time, it takes a minute to boot, but when it has booted it works just fine. maybe its a jumper on the drive that can be placed different or something..

yes thats right, it works, but it is slow on the boot. nothing else, when i hit the power button on the mpc, its takes 1 minute to load up, then works fine, unhook the drive loads in 10 seconds.
