I was thinking about trading my 2000xl for a 1000. My 2000xl is custom with a Built in Zip drive. 8 outputs, full memory & Black pads. Any reasons why I should and why I should not.

Thanks,
Plus

Its not that. I just need the extra cash. Thats all. But was wondering if the 1000 would satisfy my needs.

well, hard to say then...what are your needs? they are very different machines. the 128MB on the 1k is awesome. you can sample synth parts and all that, no worrying about having midi available all the time just to play back a beat, etc

the fx (if you have an eb16) on the xl are way better, although to tell the truth ive been loving the 1k's reverb on high hats and shakers lately

the sound of the 2 machines is really different too. like just how it plays back samples.

i dunno...say more and you'll get a better response

i would do this cause u got to try diffrent things but just because u do this dosent mean ur beats are gonna be any better or any worst

i own both!

i would only say get a 1000 if u like the use of PC intervention, eg processing you samples on pc with better ease.
other than that keep the 2000XL.

u know, about that i gotta say a computer is better at editing than the XL too, like a lot better. it's just slower at getting the sample back to the mpc than it is with a 1k/card reader combo.

it's not like the XL is so amazing at editing/processing samples. not that it's bad, it's just not as good as a computer really.

dont get me wrong, the XL is awesome too. im just sayin...

Ok, I went to guitar center to look and try out the 1000. I couldn't get the decay screen and tuning screen.Like on my hats and bass lines. Does it have it and I missed it?

it has that and more...infact we can control the the decay and tuning not to mention other things for every event, so say we just want one particular sample to be tuned or decayed or anything for that one time we can do it.

yeah it has all that stuff

no filter envelopes though

I wouldn't get rid of my MPC1k. But, I'd be happy to BUY yours outright, or buy you a new MPC1K and then swap it out for you. Let me know if this is interesting to you. Honestly, I'd be buying your MPC mostly for the custom work. I really don't need it, but it looks like you did a killer job on the graphics!
