Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

you know what, i've been thinking. what i'm about to say is by no means to be a stab at jahrome - keep doing your thing, fam....

but this is stupid. all these questions being thrown at one person. why don't everyone just wait until it becomes available in your market. go to the store GC, sam ash or whereever or just buy one and test it out. IMO i never buy gear or do(n't) do anythingbased on someone's review. reading this board, i've read ppl trashing the 1k like it was a prize from a cracker jacks box. the 1k fits me perfectly. i've never had any problems with my box. no timing problems, no memory problems, not even a CF card problem. so even when jahrome finishes his review, if i want to buy one or not, it's not going to be based off of his or anyone else's review of it.

i'm sorry, i just had to throw that out there. AND NO, I'M NOT HATING ON IT OR JAHROME. in fact, i'm going to buy the 2.5k when it hits the US.

Reviews should never make the decision for you, that should always be down to playing with the machine yourself. But they are helpful and can point out pros and cons that you might miss or never think of

oh yeah, Jahrome - can you REVERSE a sample?? :)
Believe it or not this is not possible in the 1000.... :(
I know i can do it with software but i like doing things like that in the machine itself - the old school way.

I am not offended by any comments. But the purpose of this site is to talk about MPCs so I am just doing that. I want to give a thorough review.

And for any haters that say I will post only positive things because of what I do..that is BS. I can tell you honestly that there are things in my review which state what I don't like and any disappointments. I won't hold nothing back.

I was trying to get some English manuals and they are not even ready yet. Akai Japan told me that they can give me a draft of the manual that hasn't been finalized..which they are sending to me this week...but so far, I haven't needed the manual to figure out any function.

Can the 2500 perform 'sample in play',
ie: sample external audio for later use
while sequences play in realtime?

Thanks!

yo, does the data wheel have just one part, or is it 2 parts like the 2k classic?

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying this thread is stupid i was just saying to me, i wouldn't make up my mind to buy or not buy something just off of reviews. and it kinda sounds like what everyone wants to know will determine if they go out and buy it or not. that's all. like i said before, i think this thread or one that J decides to put his review on should become a sticky. it's good someone is taking the time to actually do this. i just hope people don't solely go by this thread to buy/don't buy the 2.5

hmmm...what else would they give us. i'm curious. yo...i'm kinda upset about that lil wheel deal. i thought that the best jog wheel even was the 2k and after that was the 3000. the xl wheel (what i have) seems cheap and trashy. i admit...i haven't had too many problesm with it, but the 2k wheel felt good and was extremely functional and practical. i was feelin' the 2 part wheel. it's the lil things...
