try tapping in your rolls with the 16 levels function turned on.

A lot of funk records have tom rolls or snare rolls at the beginning of tracks, as well as in the breaks.

Set a short loop end for the sample and simply hit the pad and the tom will loop.

Assign the slider to either pitch (which will speed it up) or volume for the crescendo effect.

After you loop the tom sound you can go into STEP EDIT mode and adjust the velocity and pitch of each hit to make them sound more realistic.
