Hello,

First post here. I wonder if anybody have experience with both the 60 and 3000 and would like to know if it´s any difference in the swing feel of the machines. I have a sp1200 and are thinking of getting a mpc 3000 but I have heard roumors that the 60 has a bit more relaxed feel.

Is it someting worth worrying about or should I go for the 3000?

The MPC3000 and MPC60/60MK2 with their current OS versions have the same SWING and QUANTIZE engine.

Any "relaxed" feel on the MPC60 is mainly to do with its slower CPU.

IE: The "relaxed" feel doesn't have much to do with the sequencer engine.

A 60 ? or a 3000 ? ... you will get STRONG performance out of either.

Neither will be the wrong choice :-)

According to the MPC3000 manual (highlighting the differences between the MPC60 and the MPC3000:

"Faster internal computer (16MHz V53-equivalent to a 80286) for improved timing accuracy in complex sequences and enhanced timing response to MIDI input"(Page '8')

The type CPU in the MPC has alot to do with its timing, playback and feel.

I have the 2000XL and the 4000. I have said this millions of times, but the two play back with a subltle difference one each one.

I find that the 4k plays back slighty...and only slighty quicker than my 2kxl.

they both have completley different CPU's

Thank you guys for the replies!

I really would prefer the 3000 as it will be a good contrast to the sp1200,
also nice to have digital i/o and more memory, it probably have some more years before service might be necessary too.

I would consider going for the 60 though if there is some funk mojo that´s missing on the 3000 apart from it´s sound.

Any coments?, keep em comming.

The MPC3000 will be a good compliment to the SP1200.

I know HEAPS of producers who use the two in combination with great results.

Good luck with your decision.

Rohan.
