Hello,
I'm a long time Logic user considering buying an MPC (1000 or 2500). What I'm after is the characteristic swing feel of an MPC for hip-hop beats.
I have an MPC groove template for Logic that's decent, and Logic's built-in swing parameters are extensive. However, I can't seem to achieve a good hip hop swing feel in my beats no matter what I do.
My question is does the MPC has a unique swing feel built in it's sequencer that can't be emulated in Logic (or software in general)? I've seen posts on the net that argue both sides. Some say there's no difference; others that the MPC feel is irreplaceable.
All I know is what my ears tell me. Artists who use the MPC exclusively (RJD2 and Prefuse 73 for example) have a killer swing groove in their work that is unmistakable and highly desirable. Personally, I believe that the MPC has something special.
Any opinions on this subject are greatly appreciated. If I could save myself $2000+ and stick to Logic, great. But if the MPC is where it's at for hip hop beat construction, then I'll drop the cash without hesitation.
Thanks,
Mike
