I want to be able to hit a pad and have a sample start and loop infinitely until it is either cued again or is turned off by a mute group. I am to get it to loop if I hold down the pad but it stops when I lift my finger. On an old Yamaha sampler I was able to set the decay to infinite so it never stopped because it never decayed, but the MPC1000 only has a max of 100 decay.

Is infinite looping possible on the mpc’s? If not are there any hardware devices that do this?

I have also unsuccessfully tried to get Kontakt (Native Instruments Software Sampler) to do this.

thanks

i find that the record feature of the mpc works well when looping....i dont know if anyone else has discovered it yet

but seriously....find the bpm of the sample, set the bpm on the mpc, and record the sample

Thanks Froz1 but that is not what I am talking about. I do not want to be in record mode or have to record a sequence retriggering loops.

I am simply asking if the MPC can act as a phrase sampler. Hit pad loop starts and plays forever.

Even Roland’s crappy Dr. Sample can do this, I would be surprised if the MPC’s can not.

Yes it can. Read the manual. Come on ppl lets get real. What is Akai not shipping the manual anymore with your 1k's, and did they take it off their site also. Start by reading chp 3 entitled sequencer feature pg 11.

Okay, have the sample on note off and make sure loop is on, Make sure the loop is perfect when triming it. Hold the pad and press track - or + (make sure a different program is on the track.) Then let go, the loop should keep on looping by it self.

whats wrong with being in record mode tho?
i did that for a live show, worked fine.

and use delete to 'turn off' the loop.
