ZIP TIPS?

whatz up,

i just installed a zip in my computer, anybody got any tips or secerts i should know far as transferring samples back and fourth to the mpc
drop a line.
(i know about the 8 charcter sample rule)

Use PC format, don't format it in the MPC.
Save all your sounds as .wav
Create folders on your zip (on your PC, or in the MPC's 'load' screen) -- there's a limit to how many files can be in the 'main' directory, so you have to break stuff into folders to use the full capacity of the disk.
Back-up your zips to your PC's hard drive.
That's all I can think of.

and dont forget to cop that mpc prgmmaker/program edior also and the simpleXfer utility too....and dont use more than 8 letters when naming your files....

I TRIED TO HOOK IT UP, BUT I AM GETTING NO RESPONSE FROM MY MPC. EVRYTIME I TURN THE TOGGLE WHEEL TO TRY AND GET TO SCSI MY SCREEN FREEZES WITH THE CAPTION "WAIT"

look on the back off your zip make shure the termanation switch is on

I'M USING A IOMEGA 250 ZIP DRIVE TO TRY AND SAVE, AND I DO NOT SEE A TERMINATION SWITCTH AT ALL IN THE BACK .DID I PURCHASE THE PROPER EXTERNAL ZIP DRIVE OR IS MY MACHINE (MPC 2000) NOT ABLE TO READ SCSI. HELP ME PLEASE! THNX

You bought the wrong type of external zipdrive if there is no termination switch nor a scsi id switch (5-6) then you have a parallel drive and that will never work with an mpc. Sad but true.

It may not be SCSI - parallel port zip drives use a similar connector cable, but will not work with your MPC. Does it have an ID switch (5 or 6)

Oh yeah - can we lose the CAPS LOCKS - IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING AT US!!!!

I've killed the CAPS!!! I've been using the mpc 4 aprox a year now ,so I know how to use the machine. Except 4 the fact that I now have floppys coming out my ...! What is the best route for me to take in saving my work?

Okay just a quick question, I just bought a Iomega "Super-fast SCSI Connection" 250 MB Zip drive............ it came with the zip drive, the power cord, and the SCSI Cable........... problem.......... THE DARNED CABLE DOESN"T FIT IN MY MPC!!!!!!!! whats the problem? Is there like a extra connection I have 2 buy or something? The cable fits in the Zip drive, just doesn't fit in the back of the MP

Tree: It seems that you have the wrong type of zip drive.

Mike: There is a different type of cable that you'll need. The MPC takes a 50-pin scsi connection instead of the 25-pin that's probably on both ends of your cable. Look for it online. It doesn't come too cheap though. Mine ran me for $35.......Out

Man ol man, isn't this whacked up.. I thought I was getting a deal.... a 250 MB Zip for 100........ why does every good thing come with stipulations? Now i gotta go spend $40 on a cord........ !

there are also adapters on the market to make the cord you have work

check your local mom and pop cpu store or ebay, and dont forget about the flea markets and good will you might find the cord you need
