And yeah the sherman filterbank is way too expensive, would be nice thou.

THIS AINT PRETTY TO LOOK AT BUT People WHO BUY THIS LUV THE SOUND.............

>> WHAT IS IT ?

The Frostwave Resonator is a self ossicilating, high and low pass filters with cutoffs that is fully voltage controllable. More accurately it is a true all analogue clone of the Korg MS20 Sythesizer filter section.

>> WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE?

The Frostwave Resonator is a very versatile analog filter. It can take any weedy sample, loop, mix or instrument and give it some fat analog tone or some crunchy lofi grit.

It can create filter sweeps, from subtle to extreme, generate booming sub bass, and take any standard instrument or signal and give it an "analogue" sounding treatment- run a flat drummachine or sound loop via the resonator and you will get big analog drums and samples on the other side....

The Resonator can also self ossicate, creating spacey, atmospheric sounds on it's own without any input source. Combined with other effects some amazing and unique sounds can be generated.

I Want ONE................ITS REAL ANALOG.......NOT MODELING........

acro wrote:Frostwave resonator doesn't quite convince me... What i like the most in MFC 42 is that it has two channels, one stereo (for anything) and one mono (for example bass) Electrix filter factory seems like a good option for me too...

Filters are something you have to buy on sound, not features. If you want two channels, buy two resonators.

If you said you wanted the mfc cause of the midi implementation, distortion or chorus, that'd be different.

well, disortion and midi actually are reasons why i would like an mfc 42.
also, i don't have enough money to buy two frostwave resonators.

I wonder why Frostwave didnt come up with a linking device yet. Cuz when I got a Stereo signal I want to process I wouldnt want to spend ages twisting the knobs untill both channels are exactly the same.

Self oscillating! Thats real ill.. But when I saw the price was around $290 it kinda struck me. Thats like almost half a ms20!!!
This would be amazing with live/DJ sets and a tapeecho
I think I'll rather cop serato :P

Frostwave should come out with a midi filter, they have all the componants right there, just a question of manufacturing. They are a small operation tho, I've been to their offices, it's really great stuff. i have 4 frostwave pieces and I want more. The filter factory is a good filter, I think the MFC is better in some respects, but as far as sound the frostwave kills it.

Stereo filtering is kinda dumb. if you want both filters to act the same it might as well be mono. Filtering your whole track is a cool trick for a minute, then it just becomes a gimick.
they are much more useful on the indi outs or on the sample input.

"Frostwave should come out with a midi filter"

Yeah, that would be cool..

For sure. Besides, the vast majority of our musical sounds are mono anyway.

For external sound processing I think I have 6 analogue filters in my studio and they are all mono. Heck, even the audio in on my stereo, dual filtered Voyager is mono. I can honestly say I have never thought to myself 'I wish this filter was stereo'. I cant imagine where or how I would use a stereo filter..

Get the Frostware - I would imagine that it ROCKS..!

Oops, just thought of a stereo filter - my Evolver has stereo inputs but only used them on mono signals..

the only stereo filter i have is always used mono.

I'm glad I;m not the only analog geezer around here :) You make me seem sane Paul :')

When'd you go to frostwave elmac? It's in my hometown.

For anyone who wanted to control two resonators you could with any CV output device. Also Frostwave do a single channel MIDI/CV convertor that isn't on their website which could be used to control the resonator with your MPC.

Evolver owners, how awesome is the filter split parameter? It's one of my favorite modulation destinations on that machine.

And Penfold, there's a reason no one else's suggested a digital filter, maybe you should check out some analogue.

There are a couple of us around......

I can vouch for the resinator. Had mine for years and it still surprises me. Ive done a few ambient tracks just using the resinator and effects.

So many sonic possibilities........

totally OT but......

here is a pic of my new synth..... anyone played with one of these puppies??

Im loving it......

basslines that I filter are mono of course...
But some times you might want to record a "sweep" filter on a stereo effect. The real reason I thought about stereo link was including this dope unit in a DJ for some crazy filter actions on some psychjazz/funk set...

I'd love to fux w/ one but I think I'll end up using an MS20 anyways

Dude - the MS20 is one mofo of a synth! I have mine hooked up to my Voyager and pretty much use it in every track. It actually has 4 filters on it:

LPF with resonance
HPF with resonance (very unique and VERY powerful)
LPF non res on the ESP
HPF non res on the ESP

The ESP (external signal processor) filters are in series so you can get a band pass out of them plus, you can break your signal out after the LPF and again after the HPF so you get two effects on the same audio..

Truly great synth..
