The very first time I plugged it in it recognized and I attempting format a zip disk. There was a format failure and hasn't recognized the zip drive since. Would be safe to say there's a problem with the drive and should look into getting another one.
1: Power disconnected from the SCSI ZIP100 drive.
2: SCSI ZIP100 ID set to 5.
3: SCSI ZIP100 termination set to ON or ENABLED.
4: Power off to the MPC3000.
5: Connect SCSI ZIP100 with inserted 100 meg cart to the MPC3000 SCSI port.
6: Connect power to the SCSI ZIP100 and wait for it to come alive.
7: Power on the MPC3000.
8: Once the MPC3000 has booted, press DISK and then goto the COPY/FORMAT/OTHER menu.
9: FORMAT the SCSI DISK.
If still having problems try the above process by booting a floppy disk containing version 3.16 of the MPC3000/MPC3000LE operating system.
OS 3.16 contains extra disk re-set code.

You could also try connecting a different type of SCSI drive to your MPC3000 too in an effort to verify that all is working properly.
