mpc and ASR-10

Hello everyone, I was wondering what the main difference is with the MPC and the ASR10. Obviously one is a keyboard, but what can the ASR do that the MPC can't and vice versa. Is it easier to chop samples and assigned them/program? Which of the two do you prefer to make beats?

I have owned both machines and let me tell you ASR-10s scare me. They often have problems being that they are getting so old and parts are not made anymore so they are expensive. It is a nice board with a nice workflow however modern boards can do everything an ASR-10 can do and more. The board is definately hyped up with all the producers that use them. The MPC is great it is hyped but the hype is true. The workflow on the MPC is awesome. I have some gripes with the mpc2000xl not being able to sample while a sequence is playing but the 100 does it as well as the 4000 and the 2500.

n the hands of a master as ASR 10 is dangerous. If your a new jack you may get frustrated with and asr 10 quickly. The ASR 10's with the purple screen are the most stable. The sample engine and filters on all ensoniq samplers shit on the whole MPC line. Point Blank!

I feel you Dennison, but there are a few things that the ASR 10 can do that no other samplers can. I wish I could ad a yet to that statement but they probably won't bother with them in the future.

the fact that it had resampling and sample while sequencing back when the 3000 was out should tell you how ahead of the game this was, and there are a few features of the ASR 10 that keep it ahead still. I really wish other samplers did incorporate them, but sadly they are seldom used features, so odds are we wont see them in new samplers, especially now that hardware samplers are on the decline and hardware is sold for presets mostly.

i had a asr 10 and i didnt like it. but i regret getting rid of it.

I'm rockin the ASR 10 & 1k combo no complaints here. The ASR 10 imo has a good work flow, everything is really accesible on it. as long as Tsoniq stays in business I'll still be able to rock my ASR.

ASR10 has way more tools than a 2kxl could ever dream of, ASR is a workstation, 2kxl is not.

In the hands of a curious and experimental producer, ASR is dangerous indeed. Me, I can rock both my ASR and 2kxl and my workflow is still not hindered.

I'll jump on either one and still be perfectly happy.

If I was stuck on an island and could only have one, ASR10 would be my choice, but I'm not so I use my 2kxl religiously.
