Temperature for storing records.....

I'm selling my house, so I need to turn the 2nd bedroom back into a bedroom (lol).... so I was thinking of storing all my records in the garage for a few weeks..... right now the hottest it's been in there is 83 degrees....

Will my records be okay in that heat?

yeah they'll be alright, as long as there in a dark area there should be no problem, a few weeks ago i went to this flea maket and dude was sellin records all the records were in direct sunlight but in boxes i ask;d him they must me warp'd,he told me no use dont pull them out till they cool down , so i bought afew records off him wheni got home i check'd them out and straight as an arrow could not beleive it myself , it just when the direct sunlight hit's them that they taco up,

so like i said you should be cool with that temp, just cover them up so the dust dont settle on them like most people that get rid of there records, they never cover them so they get really dusty.

if records sitting in 95+ temps dont warp then your records that are in doors and not in direct sunlite should get warp'd

co-sign, its really only about direct sunlight. I just survived a summer in ny and my apartment was like 93 for two months. With the garage tho, you got to worry about mold and kakaroaches.

thanks for the replies fellas..... luckily my garage has no windows and I have already boxed all the records, so direct sun and dust should not be an issue.

Cool, this is a good question because I'm going to be moving, and was wondering what temp was ok to have them sitting in boxes in the uhaul. Question answered!

think of all the vinyl that had been sittin in peoples garages and attics for years and they are ok.
