Ok here is my problem. I can get Protools to sync with the MPC 1000 just fine from day one... however when I record, my drums and samples are all off, as if it is trying to quantize at a different note... and it is driving me crazy. Please tell me I am doing something wrong and it is not the software, because I paid good money for it. I looked everywhere for weeks for a solution... Is there a way to turn this off? I just want to be able to sync and record into Protools (for now)... Basically all I want is for protools to be is the master and trigger the MPC to play and record, so that when I do multiple pass throughs... they are in sync. I am using an MPC 1000, a Delta1010 rack mount and Pro-tools M-powered. Please help! Thanks!

when you say multiple pass throughs.. do you mean multiple tracks? If you are recording each track on different passes, you have to start them all at the same time. Set the session start time to the hour, then start pro-tools on the hour each time. Each track should then be in sync. If you are talking about each individual track sounding funny, than maybe you have something checked in the transport window that shouldn't be. Read the manual regarding sync to external sequencers. Or you could go to digi's site and check their users group. I record into protools all the time and I don't see this problem. It is prob. just a setting. Don't worry, pro-tools will work for you.

come on penfold, you are more helpful than that. What software do you use that you don't have to make adjustments to the settings? Man, what is wrong with this site lately?

Thanks... When I said pass throughs I mean if I have 15 audio tracks... and 6 out on the MPC and 2 out on the Karma... I have to make at least two pass throughs to record all of the tracks seperately.

But let me see if I can clarify this... lets say that my drums on the MPC go

boom---boom---bap, boom---boom---bap

When I trigger it with Protools it goes

boomboombap,boomboombap

with both at the same BPM... I hope this clarifies... thanks!

Oh, wait so it is playing at the wrong tempo. If pro-tools is the master, make sure the little conductor guy (look at the transport, and make sure it is displaying midi info) is not checked. When checked pro tools uses the tempo map defined in the Tempo Ruler (I got this from the manual)...

Try www.digidesign.com -> support -> digidesign user conference (DUC)

They all use pro-tools and should be able to help you out. It should be able to do it no problem...sounds like its a wrong setting somewhere.

yeah, well I have used protools for about 4 years now, everything from mbox to hd, and I have had no problems getting it to work. I am sure every cubase user can say they had as easy a time as you did (there is some sarcisim there for you) Pro tools gets the job done, just like every other program out there. But no program is without it's faults and each will take time to master. Again the point of these forums is to help people out. That is what I am trying to do. I guess I could just post how much I hate stuff I don't use, and **** and moan. Those seem to be most of the posts here. This fu3king site is really starting to suck...

Have Cubase... Have Abbleton... I know they all work like a breeze... but what I need right now is protools to work for me for my CURRENT situation... Thank you very much filterthing for your attempt to help... everyone else forgive me for confusing this forum as a resource.

yeah, no problem. I don't have my mpc here at work, so I can't trouble shoot to well. Go over to the digi users conf. they are a little more mature over there.
