sound compression on OS 3.1 (MPC60)

what exactly the sound compression on OS 3.1 wil do to the sound? one can hear the difference easily i suppose...

i recently bought mpc 60 and it has OS 2.02 on it. i'm about to get the OS upgrade for it, but in the meantime does anyone know about any major bugs in OS 2.02?

it will take up half the memory, it is supposed to affect the highs, but I haven't used it much. when I have, I havent heard a large difference.
