808 and a bass line

yeah, i got an mpc 2kxl,triton,proteus2000 with xl-lead,mophatt,and vintage cards installed. monitors are event TR-5's, audio technica 4050 mic. my bad on the response lag, military been working me to death. and the Berklee online music class...

and im using cubase (pro tools is in the mail) and waves plug ins. for the compression, i use the L2 and bring the ceiling down to -2.0 (the gauge on the left) and then i move the threshold slider on the right down until the meter on the far right registers hits at like -5.0 to -6.0

novation spuerbass station has that ultra low bass, thats what i've been trying to get for years when i read about the SBS i first heard the low bottom end in house and techno i read about the module in some dj mag from the uk and this SBS had this , i'm yet to figure it out but it has a reall nice lowend on it you can make some nice basslines..... you can also create the drums from an 8o8 and 9o9 the only thing is theres no place on the net to get much info for it and it's monophonic but it sounds great
if you can find it on the net they prolly run bout 300$ thats what i paid for mine used

EQ mate. the 808 and bassline have to sit in different freqs or it'll sounds like a turd.

There's quite a few threads about it. Good luck, when you first get yer head around it things start sounding much better.

anyways I analyzed a few of jons tracks off crunk juice...and many of his basslines frequencies occupy the same freuqencie range of his 808 kicks...I checked and many of his tracks have the 33 hz range, so cutting it isnt the answer...


So in conclusion...theres only 2 possible ways that Little Jons enginers are fixing this situation...

1.Side Chaining compression. This is commonly known as ducking.
IE The bassline will drop in a specified volume (and possibly frequency) whenever the kick hits
2. There fine tuning the 808 kick or bassline in cents, so the distortion doesnt occur. I assume that they'd be using the Antares AutoTune software to do this.
