What filter/plugin for those Aphex Twin sound drum crunch's

i read an article on d. james and i'll shit if he's ever using anything but analog.

how he gets his sound > in the article he said it was a lot of vodka cause you can't hear it straight until your head is thumping and then forget the level meters.

analog gear and no care = caustic window

also do a search on the plugin supatrigger. its a mac component but it may be a pc vst as well. Instant glitchyness

yeah i found supatrigger and it does have a pc version... just downloaded.. will see what i come up with tonight...

last night i tried to sequence a snare roll and apply a pitch shifter to increase in pitch as it went... kinda worked... but knowhere near how i wanted it to... sounded cr#p actually.. so i barred it...

another way that i found is get one of the yamaha dep 5 delay half rack mount fx units and tweak the pre delay and delay times to get instant and real time rolls, it also does those phase type things that squarepusher/ aphex do quite well by changing the room type/ size.

Used to do this all the time but its been so long since i played with it
Maybe this is their secret.

Word.. thats what I did. Also remember that the mpc can be master to a comp while also using the comps sequencer to trigger your mpc, so you have the benifit of both. Linear seuquencing is a must while doing this though.

This is possible in Kontakt using the time machine

try asigning verlocity to pitch (plus or minus depending on if you wanna go up or down) and then step editing a really tight load of hits (really tight). Then go back to them and start velocity off at near 0 and increase velocity as you get to the end of your roll.

Try adding a little phaser or chorus to your snare too to soften it up a little if it is too harsh in the mix.

Then experiment from there. Bouncing balls are good fun in the middle of a tite groove.

What did yo utry it in anyway? Get a good hardware sampler with filters and stuff for this kinda programming.

So u saying i have a tight run of say snares'... and pitch them up as the part goes along and then also adjust the velocity as it goes??

I used a simple sequencer that i still use (i like it) on the puter... its called making waves and i had my snare programmed and just went through all the diff. plugins i had that were pitch shifters etc.

The i did a similar thing in logic.. to mixed but not very satisfying results...

compress your snare rolls so each attack is soften- use a long release it will help with that zippy feel

try the cyclotron vst plug in , granular synthesis with clock capabilities , great results on breakbeats .

granular can give you pure craziness, you can stretch stuff to sound like motorbikes and stuff...

If you have a Triton...

1. auto chop drum loop (do as many chops as you can)
2. Reverse some of the chops randomly
3. Assign to patch
4. Link to the arpeggiator
5. Change the pitch bend to a large octave range
5. Hit keys randomly and pitch bend

It rocks bigtime and is the best thing Ive ever used. Ive got the Session version, and have downloaded alot of stuff from the user library and was blown away! You can do anything with it. Cant wait to get the version 5 upgrade happnin.
