Thanks for the mod help, Could I possibly just remove the end of another cable and not cut with the scissors and then the spike holes would already be punctured?

If not then what did you use to puncture the new holes for the spikes, and you call that device a clamp in English. Do I need any other tools and if so what?

No problem! It doesn't matter if you cut the cable or use holes that already have been punctured, I tried. I only did use the clamp to perforate the cable. Good luck and report if your done

I just did it, and it worked, instead of a clamp I used a pair of regular pliers very carefully and pierced through the cable. It works and the nuts hold the board in without a metal panel below, all is sturdy and functional . Thanks for all of the help!!

Sorry but i had to ressurect this thread to get some info.I think i pretty much have everything covered but what i didn't notice was this mod was mainly on the 2kxl.So can it be done on the 2k?I'm pretty sure it will but the connector looks to be different on the 2k board than on the xl.

I'm gonna try the floppy drive cable but i think i need a male cable(the one with pins) to go into the board.

I need one like this.Do you think the cable should be male?

I got a question for the pros on this... does that ferrite core around the ribbon cable really necessary? I just had to ask.

Not really, although it will reduce any static/hum coming from the 8 outs. So yes.
