As promised, here is a HPF demo. Very basic MS20 patch: 1 triangle oscillator, LPF 80% open. No effects (snare has a little delay on it). Slight compression used on the final mix to increase volume.
HPF Demo
First 2 bars: HPF fully closed (no effect)
Next 2 bars: HPF 20%, HPF resonance 30%
Next 2 bars: HPF 20%, HPF resonance 50%
Next 4 bars: HPF 20%, HPF resonance 50%. Bass drum routed into MS20 External Signal Processor, triggering a CV envolope which is used to duck the HPF
So, althought only thrown together in 10 mins (not a great demo) hopefully you can hear the harmonic distortion introduced by the HPF which gives the effect of increasing the bass line's lowend in a manner that is impossible with EQ. Further more, 'most' EQs can not be ducked by a bass drum etc, allowing room for your kick.
The MS20 is an incredible synth. For example, the above is done with ONE oscillator - the new Virus TI can produce 1800 oscillators at once; the MS20 has TWO! Yet I would never swap my 2 MS20 oscillators for 1800 Virus oscillators..
See you
