try to copy the beat of famous drum beats like the Amen or funky drummer. Its easy.

Just load up a loop of the break your trying to copy

Loop it to the correct tempo of the break

then select some drum hits to use Kicks Snares hihats etc.....

play the kicks and snares when and where they hit in the old drum break

get comforatble witht the beat and select a new track and seqwnce the new beat.

Then add your hi hats

turn down the volume of the old drum loop or delete its track and booom
you have a copy of the beat.

It will take a bit of practice but it works well. Then after you get good at this you will be able to tweak the breaks you make and make them your own.

Are you talking about club style breaks, or hip hop breaks?

I can help with both.

Haha, nanoloop, that's not the spirit of this place, though it is pretty **** funny.

Stoopid, a break is a section of a record where it's just drums, usually 2 or 4 bars, occasionally longer. It's the foundation of much modern sample-based music, particularly hip-hop and dnb but also house, breaks (duh) and lots of other music.

What we're talking about here is writing your own breaks using the MPC to mimic the style of drumming that would most often be sampled, as a break, from a record.

Peace all.
