Does anybody know the name of the ORIGINAL song where the main loop from POPPA LARGE by Ultramagnetic MCs comes from? Your help will be greatly appreciated. I know somebody in here knows the answer to this. I have been looking for this beat forever! Here's a link to the version I'm refering to:

Poppa Large by Ultramagnetic MCs

Thanks

It's funny you mentioned this record. I just picked up the promo 12 inch for 12 quid with the East coast version on one side and the West coast version on the other. The original East coast track is the one you had for your download.

I know, that's where I recorded the song from, straight off the 12" inch. I had that one for many years. Thanks y'all for the replies, but none of that is what I am looking for. The-breaks.com is always the first place I go, but they don't have all the answers either. Sometimes they aren't even correct. The same drum loop used in Poppa Large is the one used by L.O.N.S. "Teachers Don't Teach Us Nonsense" and they said it's the "Funky Drummer." Anybody can tell it is not. They also said "My Thang" is in "Poppa Large" but it doesn't sound anything like it. That's why I came here.

peace

Could be it's just the wrong information. I've had that song for over 10 years, "My Thang" is not the main loop, no matter how it's flipped. It's not the drums either, which is what I wanted to know. Because if it is just "flipped" in a way I couldn't recognize it, please tell me where. It's just a thing of either you know or you don't. I appreciate the links, but specific information is MUCH more helpful. That's why I included the song as a download. Case in point of the site not having all the answers, in addition to the aforementioned examples, the-breaks.com also said "Buck Whylin'" by Terminator X contains the intro to "Payback" by James Brown. Wrong. It contains the intro to "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine." That's why I came here to see if the REAL crate diggers could help me. Peace.

could it be possible that you are wrong? i'm not insinuating that you are, but if different ppl are telling you 1 thing and you think they are wrong, maybe you are wrong. it could be My Thang, flipped with other stuff added on top of it.

By sasafrasit Mon Oct 10, 2005 5:41 pm
I'm not saying it's not possible I'm wrong, I am asking for SPECIFIC information, you either know for sure or you don't. There's no "could be" about it. If I am wrong, like I asked before, please tell me WHERE specifically? And why is it everyone is telling me the same thing? Because they all got the info from the SAME ONE SOURCE. Do they really know for sure? Did they check? I did, and I am telling you, the main loop is not from "My Thang." The main loop I am referring to is the drum loop, as I said in my second post. There are two main loops in the song, that is the most recurrent, the bassline and the drumloop. Neither of those came from "My Thang." I am not even saying that "My Thang" couldn't possibly IN the song. That is not what I wanted to know. Is it the main loop, what I actually asked for? No.

It sounds like there are at least two loops on top of each other.
I agree....not funky drummer.
