That's cus whatever you set a tracks velocity level to, it will
stay like that until it is changed again. If you copy the sequence, or put it
in a song mode, it will copy with the setting you left last. I cannot remember if converting a songmode to a new seq. will change those rules. Someone should follow up on that last point.

in song mode when arranging sequences they will play out as the sequences are set(so you'll hear any velocity differences from seq to seq). Once you convert the song to a seq the mpc will ask what seq to reference, which ever one you choose, the song will have that velocity data throughout the song. So if after you convert all your sequences in song mode to a new sequence you shouldnt hear those velocity changes anymore.

That would be way to easy...

Also if you'd set it to quiet it would be silent in all of yr sequences.

See in the manual the definitions of the 3 types of song conversion "ref to 1 seq", "off tracks ignored" and "merged to midi" are pretty brief.

im glad someone has confirmed that my track velocity changes are being overlooked once i convert it..

its getting so annoying for me that i cant use song mode anymore.. if i wanna hear how my song is shaping up.. i've had to write down the order of the sequence's and then manully (via the next seq function) record into soundforge on my computer... listen back.. delete it and make changes as fit..

yeah i know.. its annoying me.. the two problems i incur in song mode:

1) the track volumes i adjust dont seem to come across into song mode.

2) One of my samples wont come across. A bassline that is there when i listen to the sequence on its own, is missing when i convert to song mode. I even tried having the sample as note off, and also as a long trigged sample. Now the sample is long.. the sequence in question is 20 bars long and the track is at 172.5 (but its really half that as its a slow track).

Could it be that the sample is too big??

Elmacaco.. which method do u use to convert.. "ref to seq 1" or off tracks ignored" ?

thanks.

I never convert, I just go to song mode and lay out my patterns and record from song mode. I lose too much flexibility when I convert to sequence. maybe if it kept the muted tracks I would do it but i still don;t have a need for it.

what??

record from song mode?? into your comuter?? is that what you mean?? ive never tried this..

so after you've got your sequence's organised in song mode what do you do next?? (this could be the answer to my prayers??)

i always convert as i thought u had to??

you sync the MPC up to your computer and press record on your computer and the song plays in sync with the midi clock or whatever.

Damn no wonder you were hating song mode.

Yo.. went home and tried just rpessing play in song mode... man thats the way to go.. all this time i've always converted... song mode rocks now.. i like how u can just play from anywhere in the song.. and best of all... all the levels and changes to velocity are there.. and the bassline that wont play when i convert is there!! u rock!

yeah, syncing it is needed if you multitrack in passes, but I'm glad I could help.

but why on my 2k, is 100% velocity as loud as i can get the track volume to go. it goes up to 127 i believe, but after 100, theres no difference in velocity that i can hear.

The velocity control on the main screen goes to 200%..

your right, i wonder why the number 127 is stuck in my head? :?

i dont know midi well enough to explain why 127 is the number for everything it seems.. 127 sounds in a bank.. volumes on most things.. etc.. there has to be a reason why they chose that number.. u would hope anyways.. :?
