why do you use a 60?

what 60 do you have & how is it equipped? (upgrades, etc.)

is it a cost factor? or do you prefer it over other mpcs? if so, why?

what is it's role in your setup? what other gear do you use with it? what type of music do you make with it? do you hide your weed in it?

I rocc a 60 MK1 with the 3.10 OS no memory upgrade or SCSI. I copped it over a 3000 b/c it was cheaper but I didn't know about all the upgrades. I prefer the 60/3000 over the newer MPCs b/c of the dedicated buttons, build quality and lacc of unnecessary features. The 60 is the brain of my setup as I use it as my main sequencer to control a triton classic, le and R8. I make hip hop and reggaeton. Don't worry about where I keep my dro LOL

Me, I use a 60mk1 with OS3.10 & expanded memory. (no SCSI) the 60 is the center of my set-up.

I have eliminated most of the redundant gear in my lab & use 3 main pieces. mpc60, asr-x pro & motif classic. (I wont get into signal path details) The 60 is the brain (much like Nino304) and I use the asr x for phrase samples, loops etc. The motif is there for the bread, butter & chicks. I may trade in the mo for something else down the road, but I will always use the 60 + X combo.

l make hip hop, rock & plenty of other shit. Check out the link in my signature if you want to hear some of my hip hop.

When yo say mods do you mean cosmetic or functional?

We've talked about adding a backlight switch like the 3000, probably the same part would work, but I never got off my ass to do it.

60 is my centerpiece as well. There is something about it that just takes over and pushes itself into the front and center. Such a great way to write music.

I spoke to Vernon Reid yesterday and he was going on about how he loves the ASR-X and they're only like $300 now and no one even knows how great they are.

he also had a 60 II, but he got rid of it because 'it had like no memory!!'

Yo Deuce Sev B, I have not gotten down with putting my music on MP3 and subsequently online due 2 the fact that I have all hardware and have not integrated the computer in2 my setup. I have a laptop but I use it primarily for sound editing. I record on a VS-890 that I feel limited by in regard 2 space. [Side note - SLT u still have your VS-890 or did u get the 1880 like u wanted?]

At this point I'm looking 4 other recording options. We use pro tools at the studio but I have a love-hate relationship with it. Part of me says your music has 2 be digital at some point so u might as well get it over with. On the other side, my VS has never crashed (bangs fiercely on the wood-like substance) and feels really solid compared 2 any software except maybe Logic.

That motif got demons in it. I have not heard better acoustic sounds come from a keyboard in my life. I heard the ASR-X was hella glitchy... is that your experience? I think my ideal setup would be a 3000 and a motif (plus either triton if money permited). I'm really thinking of revamping my setup right now as u can see.

why the 60 ?
1/ the sound ( individual outputs make it really shine )
2/ the 1.5 mo limitation ( i learn with old gear around 96 and the switch to computers just got me lost like a poor guy winning the lottery )
3/the drop off price since 5 years .

My friends hide their weed in their PS2.

Why use a 60?
1.The Sound, the low-end just has that "knock" that I love, and the mid and highs are as warm as the FL breeze I am experiencing right now.
2.The Look and build, it's solid and unique from the other MP's they have out right now

If you praise the deity MPC60, it will provide you a sustenance of quality music, as well as a fruitful life.

THe ASRX pro is realy glitchy but I also us it as my main sampler.
