upon contacting my local mpc dealer to pre order the hard drive kit, i was told that this is merely a myth amongst owners of the mpc1k and the ranks of akai. do you feel it's possible that it's still in rumour form amongst the akai offices?

when can we expect some hardcore proof that its all going ahead? i'm talking like, something on the main website or a catalogue or something.

thanks.

I've already pre-ordered my kit or should I say the HDM10 kit.

A few of the guys have discussed this in previous posts. It's up to you whether you believe them (I do) but here's the link that kicked this all off: -

http://www.akaipro.com/productsMPC1000.html

At the bottom of the right hand column, you'll see the following: -

The following hard drives have been tested and approved for use in the MPC1000:

Fujitsu
Model: MHN2200AT

Seagate
Model: ST92011A

Toshiba
Model: MK4026GAX (40GB)

Be patient. There are some good people on this board and the only definite information we have is that the kits are on their way and there's a new OS due, hopefully, before the end of the year. Other than that, nothing else is known.

for your dealer to have told you that, clearly they are uninfromed. as stated and as i mentioned, the part is HDM10. my source already has it installed in his 1k and is testing a 60gig and 80gig hard drive. so far what has passed akai's tests are 40gb drives. tell your dealer to either contact akai japan or akai US to get proof that his "myth" is a reality.

i was the first consumer in the US to pre order so i know for a fact that it does exist.
