saving midi files

Does anyone know the cure for the wierd shortening of duration one gets sometimes when opening old saved .mid files?
On some tracks the duration of notes is atomatically cut, there by wrecking the sounds.
Oh and by the way can someone tell me not to swich from 2000 to 1000?

I'll tell you right now the probable cause of this. Your pgm or aps file which you're running in association with the mid most likely somewhere along the line got the Voice Overlap set to Note Off.

If that's not it I'm confused, as I've never had this happen before.
