So, I will be receiving my 4K soon and wanted to get a jump on some sample packs before it arrived. I know the 4k has the ability to read several different formats and the CD's come in several different formats. Some, more expensive than others. Are there better formats for MPC's than others (especially the 4k)?

Whatever formats you can get your hands on are fine. There are no specific formats that are better than others.

WAV is the best format if you plan to modify the files on your computer. You won't have to convert from another format or sample from the CD. The files can be loaded into the computer where you can easily audition, then choose which ones to use with your editor. When you're done you can drag the necessary files to the 4000, or use akSys with them.

So, for instance, if i wanted real acoustic sounding drums the Native Instruments Battery Studio Drums sample Cd would be a good choice? It appears to be all WAV. files....
