okay i read the manual.. couple of times at that... i mean it talks about it and i even tried playin around wit it... not sure if i jus haven't done it right or whats the deal....

but lets say i have a dope sample that i copped of a vinyle album or shoot even a cd or mp3..

if sed sample has crap on it don't want is there a way to get rid of it... o r better yet FILTER it out?

i got ths sample n it goes...... won't y0u come out and play wit me... these little girls/boys shoutin it out.. ala annies hard knock life... but there's all these bells and whistles and even drums that you konw come from the orginal song i sampled it wit... i mean is there a way to rid of that or even bring it down some?

on the mpc i been going to the program PAD mode and then clickin i think F2 for filters but i been messin wit low pass and high pass but all they seem to do is mess wi tthe voice parts and leave the rest intact i.e. the bells, whistles n drums...

also from the program pad menu when i mes wit the sample on the level and cents and tone's thing what is that called that im doing, is it pitch change ?? cuz by playin wit those settings i can make the sample "sped" up aka chimpmunk style ??

otherwise what effects in audacity or old a$$ soundforge would one use to get rid of that garbage?

I don't think it's possible, this is like trying to remove vocals from a song. Almost impossible or with heavy loss of quality.

i remember readin somewhere that some of the establish producers as u put it (i think they were talkin bout kanye) hire musicians to play the parts of the samples that they want, leaving out all that crap u dont want....i dunno where i read it but i remember reading it

This is true. Also established producers can also get access to the master tracks of the songs.

exactly, then they can just take the vocals, or any track they want.

youll be surprised what you can do with filters though.

I like it where vocals are put in a track and the vocal still has of the original track in it. In my opinion that sounds better than if someone just took just the vocal and dropped it in the track.

if that makes any sense. :?

Won't a little filtering do the trick?
I'm sure you can cut the highs out and get rid of some of that unwanted noise. It might work it might not,but it's worth a shot at least.

The EQ and kills on my Rane 56 mixer have some amazing boost and cut on them to the point that when im mixing ive been able to drop out so much of the music underneath a vocal when mixing.. try that if u have a good mixer and are having unsatisfactory results with software etc...

filters where and how? i'm usin an mpc 1k i tried playin wit hi pass filter and low pass.....all it does is mainly effect the actual VOCAL part of the sample...

can get access to sound forge 4.5 version or audacity.....what filters can i or should i use on that?

other then that i got a Behringer Eurorack UB1202... as far as a mixer or anything i havn't messed too much wit it? so on that i don't know..

but uh yeah lookin for more info on these "filters" yall talk bout..

i'm not tryin to COMPLETELY get rid of that music jus tryin to make it so it don't "crash" wit the other sounds on my coming beat..

feel me if that makes sense?

thanks

if you use the mpc's filter it should make the drums a bit lower. low enough to build your own drums over it. as far as the bells and whistles, dont know about that. but play with the filter. it should help some. build your beat around the sounds already in there.

You'll have to use a parametric eq-more precise eq for isolating instruments.

you can use the one in the MPC or export your sample to a software for eqing. whatever you find works.

you could possibly use the behringer eq, but I doubt it has a parametric eq. but you may still achieve decent results using a 3 or 4 band eq on a hardware mixer like the behringer.

there was a turorial somewhere on this site that displayed which instruments lie in what frequency ranges. that should serve as a guide to isolating those specific sounds you want to cut. there is no blueprint for eqing though. its a skill you develop after a while.

can't find the tuturiol tho...

but this kinda of seems what i'm tryin to get at...

good lookin out..

well im using the 2000. there's only one filter on the PROGRAM/PARAMS screen. thats the filter im talking about.

a parametric might help since you can goto the exact frequency you want. may not give you the results your looking for though

do you have an eb16?

i cant totally solo out a vocal, but i can make it stand out more, and make the music less noticable. I use the 4 band filter in the eb16. there is no method to my madness though, i just keep tweeking till it sounds better, then keep going from there you know? I can also tweak it as much as i can, then record into my multitracker, and tweak more in there, then sample back to the mpc.

its a long process and for me its all experimentation, and tweaking the filters
