Talk about the music biz - marketing, promotions, contract law, copyright etc...

doesnt make sense if you think about it, they offer 1,2, and 3 year deals....
if they plan on getting you signed, why does it take so long and so much, also, once they get you signed, they will probably take a percentage out of your payment for so long, etc.... just doesnt make much sense

like everyone says in the industry, their is no map book to getting signed or in the Biz

Right on, I agree. But where else can you find listings looking for specific kinds of production? Sure you can submit tons demos to certain labels, but this way you know who is looking for what.

Are there any other good music gig web pages?

check this out though, this could be credible and or not, i havent even checked out the website yet, but im about too.... i was reading Digidesign's Magazine,"DigiZine," and they are saying when u purchase any of there Pro Tools LE or HD Systems, you get this Ignition pack, which one of the things in the pack is a One Year Membership to www.Broadjam.com, and sounds almost similar to the www.Taxi.com company. And both might be pretty cool, i think im going to email both and ask them for some examples and credits of people who are actually in there company that have did some nice work for people, and see once they give me the names, ill try and verify the credits online somewhere.

TFunk13 - TAXI is worth it. It seperates the men from the boys. If ya got heat, you'll be in with a chance.

4dahaterz - TAXI doesn't plan on getting you signed. They simply provide a vehicle to get your music heard by heavyweights. They take NO PERCENTAGE. Read the details. If ya got heat, you'll be in with a chance.

If you're an unknown to the industry you can promote yourself, spend years doing it, build cred and maybe (if ya got heat) get an A&R to listen to your stuff.

If you join TAXI you can be an unknown and end up right alongside the heavyweights pitching a joint for a label artist (if ya got heat).

No, I don't work for TAXI but I have used them.

Taxi Accepted and forwarded over 20 pieces of my music in the early 90's...no work came of it....could be the music was not good enough but I've since sold most of the 20 through other means.

AGAIN.... MUSIC INDUSTRY ISNT SOLELY BASED ON TALENT.... ITS ALL ABOUT THE CONNECTS AND WHO U KNOW
its some talent people down at your local homeless spots, why are they there? and yeah, many got more musical talent to most cats in the industry.... so no matter if u got the heat, its all about who u know and what u can do for that next person
