Yeah I've heard it. I think this album is gonna be a grower though cos I like it more now than I did before.

It does sound a little like his older style over new production, I'll definitely give it a chance!

Stevie deserves more respect than this.

And everyone should know better than to start with Cooocooo, homie will take it there.

Now don't make me lock this nonsense. Post something Stevie related and it better not be about his sister.

lmao...my bad...

did yall know Stevie's real name is Steveland Morris Judkins?

Stevie's apparently a real cool cat on top of being very talented. He once walked into a music store where he heard someone playing one of his favorite boards(a Kurzweil) and commented on how well the person played. Turned out to be a kid who only got to play when he visited the music store cuz he couldnt afford to actually buy a keyboard. So Stevie whips out his credit card and buys it for the kid.

Stevie is a personal god of mine, so it's always a treat when he releases a new album. Obviously, the golden age of "Music of My Mind" through "Songs in the Key of Life" is passed. Those works were pure genius. The new album has glimpses of the past, but too few. Judged on it's own merits and not compared to his peak, it's still head and shoulders above 99.9% of the trash on the radio.

A little advice, Stevie. Lower your keys. Your voice sounds strained and pinched at times. Also, cut down on those damn melismas (runs)! In the past, your runs were tasteful and used sparingly. Leave the baroque vocal gymnastics to Beyonce, Mariah and Boyz II Men.

Stay gold.

yeah he's straining a bit too much lately.

I heard a rumor that Stevie doesn't use his Thumbs when he plays. I seen him play without rm, but i can;t say he never uses them.

Shouldn't this be in Off Topic?

Anyways, I listened to the snippets on iTunes and I'm pretty impressed with the production work. I probably won't buy this album cause I can't listen to modern R&B even if it is Stevie. I just don't like the way this modern ish sounds, but I can tell that Stevie is killing the competition. His production work is heads and shoulders above anything else in that genre. Not feeling Stevie's singing on this one at all. I like the throwback sounds in there. Does remind me of a lot of Stevie's previous work, but it doesn't compare IMHO. It's good to see him still doing his thing and showing the youngin's how to really do that R&B thang though.
