been looking at all models, help with a final decision?

the breakdown:

mpc2000XL (grey) typically with floppy or zip internal/external are usually available for around $600-$1000 (this is what i have witnessed at least)

mpc2000XL-MCD (blue) brand spankin new from like guitar center $1499 havent seen any used ones...the ones i have seen on ebay have all been scams.

mpc1000 (blue) $999 brand new, seems to hold its value online.

i really want a 2000XL-MCD but my main reasons are because of the color (stupid, i know) and the built in drives for memory cards as opposed to floppy (definetly dont want to deal with) and zip (have had bad experiences, and read even worse)

my other problem is that reading around on here the general consensus is 2000XL reg. or MCD are the way to go. i could afford a 1000 no problem but all of the tutorials around here seem to be for the 2000XL models only.

all the searching i have done have given very detailed differences to each model, but nothing that seems like much of a big deal. i am familiar with software like reason, and want to make the most intellegent choice. i want to be completely independent of my computer with my new set-up. sample off my turntable, be able to crop/change pitch/tempo on the samples, and to build drumlines from scratch

this is definetly a newbie post, and im a veteran of messageboards so i understand using the search feature, but ive been on this forum for a long time without posting and still cannot come to a decision. anyhelp you guys can offer me or links on this site you can point me to would be awesome.

get that mpc 2000xl mcd cause u can sample more with it

I think they all have the same amount of sample time.

Mcd has nothing to do with sample time it refers to the card reader.

I have the same problem you know..

4000 is out of my list cause its price otherwise is a monster.

2000xl is a good choice but the mcd edition coz u dont wanna **** with floppy's all the time.Its the standard model that most people use..

1000 though is newer technology,cheaper,lighter you can take it around easily or even make beats on your bed,has usb connection which i think is very important for fast file transfer,plus 128mb RAM.Well it doesnt have a couple of features like time streching(sucks),zoning,sample reverse...
For a moment i said that this machine is for me..

..until the 2500 arrives and combines the advantages of the both 2000xl and 1000..

..well i still cannot decide but if i had the cash i would go for 2500,otherwise 1000 is a very good up to date solution...

Get a used xl for 700-800, go to vstservice.com and order a new blue case for 80 bucks, the card reader for 150 and you'll save about 400-500 instead of buying a new blue mpc

that is exactly the type of solution i was looking for. good lookin out bro

i ment the features after samplin should have been more specific i guess but u know what i'm talkin bout u can't time stretch on the 1k
