New Floppy Drive Questions

I think that the only drives that will work r the ones with the jumper blocc or so other heads have said. The 1 that is in my 60 right now doesn't look like it has a jumper blocc. The Teac drives stopped using jumper bloccs with the 8000 series so anything 7000 or below should work. A, B or C Teac drives will not work.

Mitsubishi MF353C-112MA works
Teac FD-235HF-C291 does not work

Any idea how 2 organize this in a place where it will be easy 2 find and access?

I found this drive on e-bay... anybody know if it work in the 60?

It's either this, VST or Forat. In the meantime I borrowed a 2KXL from the studio. Oh how the mighty have fallen -uno-

the MPC bible/FAQ thread for starters. i suppose peeps could just add their floppy drive numbers to it.

i've never had to open my 60ii yet (had it since march) but i know it has an upgraded floppy drive as i am able to use HD disks and the casing is black.

if someone could explain how to open the mk ii i will take a look for you (in addition to dusting her off).

The original floppy casing is Black, be careful, I don;t remember if you have to cover the hole or not to get it to read.

The mitsubishi might work without the jumper block, since that's the original floppy drive, it just needs the one connector for disk type and i think that's standard on the mistu MF series.

Yo Nino, don't spend $150 on a new floppy drive just yet. If you can wait a few days I'll test some drives for you. I might have one that works in this old stack of about 20 drives.

Dawg u been coming thru 4 me so tuff! I'm stucc waiting anyway b/c I don't have the cake right now. My boy just brought me a drive that might work though. It's a Teac with the jumper. I'll PM u if it works so u don't have 2 waste your time going through all those drives. That's 60 love right there, 2wice, u good ppl. -uno-

at the moment i also have a disk drive problem. i have other samplers so i have just avoided usin it.

has anybody had any luck cleaning their drive? im gonna try this first before i start worrying about replacing anything. i just wanted to kno if this helpd anybody with thier drives.

On the original floppy drive the blue wire of the "IDE" ribbon is on the right side. On the new drive flip it, and put the blue ribbon on the left side of the floppy.

Nino, I got a sony drive that will load a program off a disk during the startup sequence but you can't access it after that, no loading, no saving. If this will help you while trying to find one that works 100% I'll mail it to you. Let me know, peace.

I got one I took out of my 2kxl when I changed it zip. Would that work?

De Teac drive of your 2k XL (FD 235HF 8549) will work if you set the jumpers as shown in the FAQ. You also need to rotate the ribboncable so the blue wire is on the left side (seen from above).
